Our Pastor
Claudette A. Reid is leading North Reformed Church into a new season of ministry, one that mirrors the vibrant cultural diversity and the modern social challenges of Newark itself. As the first woman minister and pastor of color to lead this congregation in its long history, her vision is clear: to cultivate a ministry that doesn't just exist in the city, but is a beacon of hope and transformation within it.
With a background of more than two decades in the academic arena, Claudette was the first Caribbean American woman selected to serve the Reformed Church in America in an executive position. She served as coordinator for Women’s Ministries and later, facilitator for Global Mission.
Pastor Claudette was installed at North Reformed Church on July 16, 2023. She uses her gifts of storytelling and teaching to lead us toward a simple, radical goal: learning every day what it truly means to live and love like Jesus in the 21st century.
